Black Friday flights

The real airline deals drop the Tuesday after, not on Friday. Here's what to watch for.

|

Live fares from hundreds of airlines.

Black Friday discounts on airline tickets exist but are smaller than retail analogues. The discount format is usually percentage-off published fares (typically 15–25% off), valid for travel windows several months forward (Jan–April is typical).

The bigger deal day for flights is actually Travel Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, when most airlines release their largest annual sale. Some of the best fares of the year appear in that 48-hour window.

Frequently asked questions

Do business-class tickets ever go on sale for Black Friday?
Occasionally, JetBlue Mint, select Virgin Atlantic Upper Class sales, and some European carriers (Iberia, Finnair) run premium-cabin Black Friday promos. Most US legacy carriers save premium-cabin discounts for other moments of the year.
Are sale fares changeable / refundable?
Usually less flexible than non-sale fares, the airline trades price for rigidity. Read the fare rules before you book. If you need flexibility, a standard-price changeable fare is often the better total-cost deal.
