Airline rules always come first

When you book a ticket through Aviafares, the fare class you select carries the airline's own rules for refunds, changes, cancellations, and no-shows. Those rules are shown to you at checkout and in your confirmation email. They take precedence over anything on this page.

Refundable vs. non-refundable tickets

  • Refundable fares can be cancelled for a full refund of the base fare and taxes; the airline may withhold a fee depending on the fare basis.
  • Non-refundable fares are exactly that, the base fare is not returned. Government taxes and some carrier-imposed fees may still be refundable; ask your agent.

US DOT 24-hour rule

For flights that touch the US, the Department of Transportation requires a full refund (no questions asked) if you cancel within 24 hours of booking, provided the flight is at least 7 days in the future. This rule applies to every ticketed itinerary booked through Aviafares.

Aviafares service fee

For changes or refunds we process on your behalf, Aviafares charges a service fee of $25 per passenger per ticket. Refundable-fare cancellations processed within the DOT 24-hour window are free of our service fee.

How to request a refund

  1. Email [email protected] with your booking reference (PNR) and the reason for the request.
  2. Or call our 24/7 booking line.

We will file the request with the airline within one business day. Refunds are processed by the operating airline and typically take 7–20 business days to appear on your original method of payment.

Post-booking changes

If the airline changes your schedule significantly (more than 2 hours, or a change of day), you may be entitled to a rebook without a fee or a full refund. Our agents handle these automatically when we see the notification from the airline.

Travel insurance

Third-party travel insurance can cover scenarios that airline rules don't (medical cancellation, trip interruption, lost bags). Aviafares does not currently resell travel insurance; we recommend you purchase directly from a provider you trust.
